The night before Halloween we went to a friends house party, these pictures were taken that day... Ryleigh started to run a low fever around 5 pm that evening. I gave her some Tylenol and hoped that her fever would go away. Unfortunately the fever got worse. At 10 pm we got home and I had a gut feeling that something was wrong. Ryleigh's fever at that point was 102. I gave her some Motrin and noticed that her breathing was really off. Jake and I decided to take her to the emergency room for peace of mind otherwise we would be losing lots of sleep. Little did we know.... we would be losing lots of sleep for the remaining week. The ER doctor chose to admit Ryleigh because he saw spots in her lung x-ray. We spend the next five days doing blood tests, cat scans, breathing treatments, and IVs, as her fever fluctuated from 98 to 104.5.
Five days in the hospital, hooked up to an IV, and what do we do??? Jake brought toys from home, the travel TV with movies for Ryleigh, and food.... by the last night before we were discharged, Ryleigh had enough and we were able to wander the halls with her. She was still attached to the IV, but it was worth it to her. She felt FREE.
Thankfully, Nana was able to come for the next five days and help us catch up on some much needed sleep. Ryleigh bounced right back and was ready to play hard.
We still have no answers to why Ryleigh's airways were restricted and all her test results from the hospital came back negative. We have appointments scheduled to get other opinions. For now she is a healthy happy girl and we never EVER want to go through that again!
Thank you to all our friends and family who prayed for Ryleigh. We are so so so grateful for your support and thoughts.
